Different Types Of Facial Hair Removal*

For women, the subject of facial hair removal is a very delicate one. Many women begin to develop faint, unwanted facial hair as they grow older. There are several different techniques that used; however, the right one will vary with each woman. The technique used will depend on where the hair is growing and whether or not permanent removal is desired. While men typically do not have a problem removing facial hair with a razor, some men like these techniques for shaping their beards or mustaches and many others use them for removing hair in other areas.
Depilatory Agents
Also known as hair removal creams, a depilatory is an alkaline-based chemical agents that remove facial hair by breaking the hair follicle down. After the follicle is broken down enough, it can easily be wiped away with a soft wash cloth. For women, this is important as shaving will only encourage regrowth. A razor pulls on the hair and does not remove the follicle as the depilatory does. If the razor is not sharp enough, when it pulls the hair it can damage the skin as well. If the unwanted hair is present on the face, a cream specially formulated for the face or specifically for sensitive skin should be used. This method only lasts several days but is easy and effective and if used often enough, can keep the hair from growing back so soon.
Waxing
This method is the most popular, but it is also the most uncomfortable. Waxing removes unwanted facial hair by pulling it out below the skin surface, from the root. The effects can last for up to six weeks. This method also is a great exfoliation treatment for the skin, but can cause redness or a more severe reaction if used with chemical agents. The service is generally offered by professional in a salons to ensure safety and effectiveness, although home wax kits can also be used effectively with practice.
Laser and Electrolysis
Both of these methods are performed by professionals but offer the best results for permanent facial hair removal. The difference between these methods is that a laser works best on fair=skinned persons who have dark hair. The laser light is absorbed by dark colors and reflected away by light. For people wit dark skin or light skin and light hair, electrolysis is a proven method for permanent, unwanted facial hair removal or any body hair.
